The Text 100 Public Relations Intern program is designed for individuals considering a career in public relations. Interns are provided a real-life professional experience in which they can learn about public and media relations and gain hands-on knowledge of the basic PR skills and tools. Interns typically perform at the level of an account coordinator, an entry-level position. We are currently seeking qualified candidates in our New York City office who can start immediately.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Draft press materials, including news releases, media alerts, and pitch letters (draft at least one release)
- Create and maintain media lists
- Drive Local PR efforts for Text 100 Public Relations
- Read assigned newspapers and trade publications for news relevant to current or potential clients
- Clip reports
- Status reports
- Weekly meeting with manager
- Assist with new business efforts, such as research
- Participate in weekly staff meetings
Qualifications:
- Interest in public relations
- Interest in technology
- Available for a full-time, three to six-month commitment
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and PowerPoint)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team coordinating multiple tasks
Desired qualifications: Creativity, writing experience, ability to work as part of a team, sense of humor, initiative and flexibility.
Language Requirements: Fluent written and spoken English
