New York Road Runners Team for Kids ~ Recruitment Specialist (P/T) (Midtown)


Although best known for the Marathon and our weekly races throughout New York City, NYRR is also passionate about reaching underserved children from low-income communities in New York and beyond. What began in 1998 with one site and 15 children has blossomed into a comprehensive and dynamic program which impacts more than 100,000 children in New York City, across the United States, and in Africa.

Team for Kids is the primary fundraising vehicle for these youth programs and is comprised of adult runners who receive guaranteed entry into numerous endurance events while committing to fundraise in support of our youth programs.

2012 marks TFK's eleventh year, and we are looking to add to our existing staff of dedicated professionals. The Team for Kids recruitment specialist will be responsible for increasing TFK's exposure throughout the NYC-metro market through phone, e-mail, and in-person solicitation of individual, team, and corporate prospects. This position will also play a key role in creating and executing an overall marketing strategy to assist in recruiting nearly 2,000 Team for Kids members each year

This is a part-time position offering 15-20 hours per week at least through August 2012. The on-going nature of the position will be evaluated in late summer with possible opportunities for an extension.

Specific Duties
1. Study best-practice recruitment techniques used by other endurance-for-charity teams in New York and beyond, and outline applicability to our own recruitment efforts
2. Based on learning from #1 above and working from an existing framework, prepare a comprehensive and detailed six month recruitment plan to leverage NYRR assets, local partnerships, media buys, personal outreach, etc.
3. Develop a plan for executing #2 above, working within a given budget; coordinate timelines, staffing schedules/structure, etc.
4. Best leverage the talents of existing TFK staff and coaches to facilitate recruitment efforts
5. Explore new avenues for recruiting corporate teams including use of NYRR member database and deep TFK alumni database
6. Analyze trends in TFK membership to help inform recruiting decisions
7. Conduct outreach via phone, e-mail, and in-person meetings
Qualifications and Requirements:

1. Friendly, personable, outgoing, and energetic personality
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills
3. High-initiative and hard-working
4. Comfortable speaking in front of large groups of individuals
5. Previous nonprofit fundraising and marketing experience a plus; some prior work experience required
6. Basic computer skills -- Word, Excel, Etc. -- required
7. Bachelor's Degree required
