The Opportunity
The Graphic Design Assistant is a part-time, entry-level opportunity with the potential for future growth and promotion within the company. The position requires some evening and weekend hours as well as occasional travel to trade shows and events.
The Position
This position will assist with the company's graphic design needs, (e.g., graphics for in-salon use, products, trade shows, & the website). This includes helping produce large format graphics like posters & banners, sending project specifications to vendors & soliciting bids. Additionally, this position will assist with various design projects under the direction of the Art Director including, but not limited to, product packaging, printed & digital collateral.
Responsibilities include the following:
• Assist the marketing team, under the supervision of the Art Director
• Contribute ideas towards marketing efforts for products and services
• Create graphics for myShobha.com such as ads for the myShobha.com homepage following the existing styles, templates
• Execute designs based on direction from the Art Director.
• Coordinate & handle in-house printing requests.
• Construct retail displays (everything from printing to hot gluing components)
• Learn, use & understand the colors & fonts associated with the brand
• Fulfill logo & product image requests
• Locate appropriate images (online and in-house) for design projects
• Assist with installations of graphics, in-house or on location
• Proof pre-production samples all created graphics for spelling, technical design formatting & brand consistency (in terms of design)
Required skills:
• Bachelor's degree in graphic design and/or minimum 2 years working experience in graphic design for a small-medium sized company/agency working on
• Proficient using a Mac
• Web design
• Proficiency in MS Office Programs & Adobe CS5 (specifically: InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver & Photoshop)
• Understanding of website architecture & navigation, including HTML
• Ability to visualize & execute print & digital graphics
• Knowledge of Flash, Java Script, video editing, CAAD are pluses.
