An award-winning advertising and branding agency in the Flatiron district, is looking for a full-time mid-level production designer to work in our studio. The ideal person is an individual who craves responsibility, loves challenges, is creative and detail-oriented, has a love for beautiful code, a well-typeset ad/banner/webpage/page-grids and appreciates the essential role production design plays in both the creative and interactive worlds. You must have a degree with an interactive focus. A degree in computer science and/or engineering, mathematics or physics is a plus. 2-4 years experience working in a production environment and/or development experience. Experience working on projects through to their launch and an ability to work quickly and meet deadlines are essential. Additionally, obsessive organization and execution should be the cornerstone of your work ethic. Bilingual an extra positive.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
– Writing clean, easy-to-read, semantic HTML markup and CSS, adhering to W3C specifications and best practices.
– Experience with compliant web design and the capabilities and constraints provided by technologies such as CSS and JavaScript libraries.
– Apply techniques for cross-browser and cross-platform interface development, while providing testing/quality control
– Produce work while maintaining existing design standards–ours and our clients
– Work closely with designers on taking ideas from thought to publication
– Work on internal design projects and presentations
– Able to contribute design or illustration a nice added skill
DESIRED SKILLS (MAC):
– Some Experience using presentation layer scripting languages (e.g., PHP, JSP, Mootools) and web application frameworks like Drupal, WordPress and Magento a big +.
– Able to animate using only timeline, and capable of animating with only ActionScript. . . TweenLite, ActionScript 2.0 and up.
– Desire to learn iOS and Android Devices & frameworks.
– Experience writing cross-browser and cross-platform markup, style, and JavaScript as well as work with popular JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery, Prototype, Ext JS, and Yahoo! YUI Library a HUGE +
– Adobe Fluent (Illustrator & Photoshop)… knowledge of AfterEffects & Finalcut+… PowerPoint a big +… InDesign a ++
– Knowledge of the “going live” process and integration with tracking/click-through is very helpful
– Able to produce multiple projects with tight deadlines
– Excellent organizational skills and a meticulous eye for detail
– You are obsessive
– Knowledge of typography/fonts and their limitations in the interactive world
– Ability to work independently, be proactive, and be a team player
– A real-world portfolio, and smart, semi-creative mind is essential
